Down The TBR Hole #7

This is week seven of Down The TBR Hole, which a meme hosted by yours truly here on Lost In A Story.

Most of you probably know this feeling, your Goodreads TBR pile keeps growing and growing and it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. You keep adding, but you add more than you actually read. And then when you’re scrolling through your list, you realize that you have no idea what half the books are about and why you added them. Well that’s going to change!

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

The Books:

Across The Universe by Beth Revis

This book looks so space-y and pretty but the story reminds me a lot of that new movie Passengers or something. I don’t know whether this is something I’d enjoy since it seems to be a very romantic book (that’s what I get from the cover), and those are not usually the type of books I go for.

The Judgement: GO

Strange The Dreamber by Laini Taylor

Of course I’m keeping this one! It’s Laini Taylor!! Also it sounds really cool and mysterious.

The Judgement: KEEP

Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raash

I’ve heard a lot about this series and it looks really interesting. It has really good reviews, so I’m definitely going to keep this.

The Judgement: KEEP

The Realm of Possibility by David Levithan

It’s David Levithan. That’s your answer.

The Judgement: KEEP

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

I’ve been thinking, and thinking, and thinking about whether I should read this new shadowhunters series, because I’m getting a little tired of the same stories and characters mixed up in a new way. But I’ll probably just give it a go since it has so many good reviews.

The Judgement: KEEP

Do you think I made the right decisions? Are these books on your tbr too or have you read them?

Send me your links (if you’ve done this) in the comments below!

  1. I just updated the goodreads list so I could enjoy the idea of seeing what i can and can’t remember – synopsis or not of 20 years reading. I swear i need a shelf that says I read it but forgot it – I should call it dusty? – – I know that means only i probably can reread them 😀 which is a more positive shelf title what a railroading! RR re-reading 😉 right down the line *Gerry Rafferty tune. – however, I could excise my tbrs’s i could but why? I still ask questions and get answers that lead to new questions and such is the same with books – some ideas moold.. like I know what challah is and even hamataschen but I’m not currently in break or cookies moulds or modes i’m in glazed popcorn which i shouldn’t bother making 😉 sugar and such – but that reminds me i’m ignoring making lunch and i’m hungry 😉

    1. I also forgets what books are about, even if it’s only a few years back when I read them. Goodreads is a great way to remember and to look back and what you read.

  2. I read Across the Universe! It, surprisingly, wasn’t as romantic as I thought it would be, but it could get a little sappy in some places. The writing, however, wasn’t fantastic and the sci-fi part of it was a little underdeveloped. I haven’t read the second book in years, so I’m guessing that’s a clue to how I really felt about it haha. I love Laini Taylor and that cover is GORGEOUS so I’ll have to add it to my TBR. I’ve heard a lot of good things about Snow Like Ashes, too, so I think I might add it to my TBR, too. I freaking LOVED Lady Midnight. It renewed my love for Cassie Clare after I lost interest in the Mortal Instruments. Haven’t heard of David Leviathan. I’ll have to go check him out. Great post, Lia! 😀

    1. Thank you! I’m happy I removed Across the Universe 🙂
I love Laini Taylor, and David Levithan is such a good writer, I’ve read a few books of him and so far I’ve loved every one of them. You should check out Every Day, it’s really cool about a person that wakes up in a different body every day.

  3. I know exactly what you mean with a couple of the characters being similar in the Shadowhunter world but regardless of that I really liked Lady Midnight. I’m also not going to lie that I got a little giddy when a couple of my favourite TID characters turned up, and when I read the TMI story at the end. ❤️ I’m also highly anticipating Strange the Dreamer as Laini Taylor is amazing!!

    1. I just wish that Cassandra Clare would come up with some new and awesome world to discover, she uses the shadowhunter world in all of her books, and maybe at one point it has been enough. I do think her books are getting better, I loved TID much more than TMI!
I can’t wait for Strange the Dreamer! 😀

      1. Agreed. Whilst I love the Shadowhunter world it would be great for her to write something completely new. I prefer TID too, and I always re-read it more than TMI.

    1. Thank you! I think that what happens when you start to blog about them haha. My tbr is under control right now, let’s hope it doesn’t explode 😉
