Down The TBR Hole v2.0 #4

Down The TBR Hole is a meme that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

Most of you probably know this feeling, your Goodreads TBR pile keeps growing and growing and it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. You keep adding, but you add more than you actually read. And then when youre scrolling through your list, you realize that you have no idea what half the books are about and why you added them. Well thats going to change!

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if youre feeling adventurous) books. Of course if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

I’m going to give this another swing, but this time going through my someday-maybe shelf. I have several shelves on my Goodreads, one of which my to-read shelf, on which I put all the books I really want to read (it’s about 30 books right now) and for all those books I’m not 100% sure I put them on my someday-maybe shelf. It has gathered dust for a while now and I think it’s time to go through it and sort it all out! I’m going to give myself three options: move to to-read shelf, delete, or keep on someday-maybe shelf.

Burn by Julianna Baggott

I have read and enjoyed the first two books in this series, but it somehow takes me forever to get through them. This book has been a priority read for months now and I still haven’t picked it up. By now I’m afraid I’ve forgotten about everything that happened in the books before because that happened when I wanted to read the second book as well. I had to go back and reread the first. For now, it is staying on my someday-maybe list, because I can’t imagine I pick this up any day soon but I am still interested in it.

Dividing Eden by Joelle Charbonneau

I don’t know what to do about this one, the synopsis sounds kind of cool, but also not, you know? It sounds like a story of intrigue, royals and drama and I’m not sure I’m into that. I did really enjoy Joelle Charboneau’s other series (The Testing) so maybe I pick this up someday. It stays on my someday-maybe list!

The House of Silk by Anthony Horowitz

This is a Sherlock Holmes story but not by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and to be honest, that’s enough reason for me to not read it. I can’t see myself picking this up any day soon or at all, so this one is going!

To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee

Last time I was really on the edge about this one, I removed it and then put it back and I still don’t know whether I should read it. I heard amazing things about it and also about people hating it, so I guess I’ll have to find out myself. It stays on my someday-maybe list! I do own a copy now, which I got from a second-hand store.

Quicksilver by R. J. Anderson

I added this book because it had asexual representation, which was (and still is) something I need in my life. However, this is the second book in a series and I don’t think I want to read the first book as well, if it’s only for the representation. So this one is going!

Total number of books removed: 8
Total number of books moved to tbr: 1

Let me know what you thought of my choices, did I make any mistakes?
