Down The TBR Hole #13

This is week thirteen of Down The TBR Hole, which a meme hosted by yours truly here on Lost In A Story.

Most of you probably know this feeling, your Goodreads TBR pile keeps growing and growing and it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. You keep adding, but you add more than you actually read. And then when youre scrolling through your list, you realise that you have no idea what half the books are about and why you added them. Well, thats going to change!

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if youre feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

The Books

I loved My Most Excellent Year but had no idea Steve Kluger had written more books, so I should check them out!

The Judgement: KEEP

I’m already at the books I added in November, so only two months of books to go and my current tbr count is 58 books. So I don’t know how many more weeks I’ll do.

Did you agree with my choices?

Down The TBR Hole #12

This is the 12th week of Down The TBR Hole, which a meme hosted by yours truly here on Lost In A Story, in which I attempt to get my TBR under control.

The Judgement: GO

I actually wanted to buy this book but they didn’t have the pretty white cover, so maybe I’ll need to order it online.

Down The TBR Hole #11

This is week eleven of Down The TBR Hole, which a meme hosted by yours truly here on Lost In A Story. It seems I skipped week 10 and did 9 twice..? Apparently I can’t count, but let’s just ignore that and go on 🙂

The Judgement: KEEP

I am nearing the end of my TBR, which is good! My TBR isn’t actually that big, right now it counts about 70 books, of which I added about ten in the last month(s). So only a few more weeks and I’m back to where I started.

What do you think of my decisions?

Down The TBR Hole #9

It’s Friday, which means I’m going to attempt to clean out my TBR a little. This is week nine of Down The TBR Hole, which a meme hosted by yours truly here on Lost In A Story.

Down The TBR Hole #9 & Buddy Read with me?

This is week nine of Down The TBR Hole, which a meme hosted by yours truly here on Lost In A Story. I’m also interested in buddy reading again, since I had so much fun doing that before, see the list at the bottom for more info.

Most of you probably know this feeling, your Goodreads TBR pile keeps growing and growing and it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. The Books:

Only looking at the cover of this book makes me go “ugh no” and when reading the synopsis I think exactly the same. A muted girl that gets back her voice, which is apparently super powerful and also she falls in love with a musician.

The Judgement: GO

Down The TBR Hole #8

This is week eight of Down The TBR Hole, which a meme hosted by yours truly here on Lost In A Story.

Most of you probably know this feeling, your Goodreads TBR pile keeps growing and growing and it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. You keep adding, but you add more than you actually read. And then when youre scrolling through your list, you realize that you have no idea what half the books are about and why you added them. Well thats going to change!

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if youre feeling adventurous) books. Of course if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

The Books

The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken

I’ve seen this book around so many times that I cannot not read it. Also the synopsis sounds really cool! The main character has awesome abilities, which is always a plus and it’s dystopia.

The Judgement: KEEP

Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier

This is one of the favourite series of one of my closest friends, so I will have to read it to see why! Also, timetravel!!

The Judgement: KEEP

The Murder Complex by Linday Cummings

Why did I add a thriller to my tbr? I don’t read thrillers. Also the title kind of says a lot about the story, which is apparently a lot about people getting killed.

The Judgement: GO

Alienated by Melissa Landers

An alien and a human that fall in love, not really the story I’m waiting for. I also don’t like the cover it seems really badly photoshopped.

The Judgement: GO

These Broken Skies by Theresa Kay

Another book in which an alien and a human fall in love?? Just: no.

The Judgement: GO

What do you think of my choices? Have you read these books?

A little reminder, there will be no #shortstorysociety chat tonight! I will be going to the theater so I can’t host. Sorry 😦

Good news: my new headers (and maybe also logo) will be up January 1th, they’re very colourful!

Down The TBR Hole #7

This is week seven of Down The TBR Hole, which a meme hosted by yours truly here on Lost In A Story.

Most of you probably know this feeling, your Goodreads TBR pile keeps growing and growing and it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. You keep adding, but you add more than you actually read. And then when you’re scrolling through your list, you realize that you have no idea what half the books are about and why you added them. Well that’s going to change!

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.

  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

The Books:

Across The Universe by Beth Revis

This book looks so space-y and pretty but the story reminds me a lot of that new movie Passengers or something. I don’t know whether this is something I’d enjoy since it seems to be a very romantic book (that’s what I get from the cover), and those are not usually the type of books I go for.

The Judgement: GO

Strange The Dreamber by Laini Taylor

Of course I’m keeping this one! It’s Laini Taylor!! Also it sounds really cool and mysterious.

The Judgement: KEEP

Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raash

I’ve heard a lot about this series and it looks really interesting. It has really good reviews, so I’m definitely going to keep this.

The Judgement: KEEP

The Realm of Possibility by David Levithan

It’s David Levithan. That’s your answer.

The Judgement: KEEP

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

I’ve been thinking, and thinking, and thinking about whether I should read this new shadowhunters series, because I’m getting a little tired of the same stories and characters mixed up in a new way. But I’ll probably just give it a go since it has so many good reviews.

The Judgement: KEEP

Do you think I made the right decisions? Are these books on your tbr too or have you read them?

Down The TBR Hole #6

Can you believe I’m late on my own meme? *hides in shame* This is week six of Down The TBR Hole, which a meme hosted by yours truly here on Lost In A Story.

• Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

The Books

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

No need to ask. This is a keeper. I’ll just need to finish the Grisha trilogy first!

The Judgement: KEEP

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

Yeah… How can I not read this one, right? I don’t know. I’ve read A Court of Thorns and Roses and it was a little disappointing. I don’t feel like reading any of SJM’s books right now, and the premise doesn’t sound that interesting to me, so I’m going to let this one go. (don’t hurt me)

The Judgement: GO

Obsidian (Lux #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

I’ve heard amazing things about this book, but the blurb just doesn’t do it for me. A hot (and very annoying) alien neighbour.. no sorry. Also this book apparently includes a lot of sexual tension (which really isn’t my thing) and rape?

The Judgement: GO

Angelfall by Susan Ee

It has two sisters and angels, and it sounds really interesting! Also it is dystopia, which is something I don’t read very often, because it’s often not really original, but this has angels!

The Judgement: KEEP

Under The Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

I’m kind of conflicted about this one, it sounds kinda interesting, but on the other hand it seems to be about romance a lot. It does have good reviews, but I think it would be on my tbr forever.

The Judgement: GO

Don’t hurt me for the SJM one, okay *hides*. My opinions might be a little controversial sometimes, but it doesn’t seem like something I’d enjoy a lot. Do you think I made the right decisions here?

Down the TBR Hole #5

This is week five of Down The TBR Hole, which a meme hosted by yours truly here on Lost In A Story.

  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

The Books:

King’s Cage – Victoria Aveyard

I have read the first two books in this series, I loved Red Queen and I quite liked Glass Sword (even though it was annoying sometimes). I am hoping that King’s Cage will be better. Also I can’t wait to know what happens after this cliffhanger! Victoria is so good at plot twists and cliffhangers.

The Judgement: KEEP

Untitled – Victoria Aveyard

This is the fourth book in the Red Queen series. It doesn’t even have a title or cover yet, so maybe I should first read King’s Cage and make up my mind whether I should continue or not. So for now..

The Judgement: GO

Cruel Crown – Victoria Aveyard

Yeah, another Victoria Aveyard book… This is the companion novel containing two stories: Queen Song about queen Coriane and Steel Scars about Farley. I have downloaded the audiobook a while ago but I haven’t read it yet, and I don’t know whether I should. The reviews are kinda in the middle, they’re not really positive.

The Judgement: GO

These Broken Stars – Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner

This is the first book in the Starbound trilogy, and I have heard a lot about this series. But now that I’m reading through the synopsis, it really doesn’t sound interesting. I don’t know, there are only characters introduced and that is all. Also the fact that the major plot is a love story, doesn’t really make me want to read it. The cover is stunning though!

The Judgement: GO

When You Reach Me – Rebecca Stead

I really don’t know why or when I put this on my TBR, maybe I borrowed it from the library but never read it? It does have really good reviews, but I think it’s middle grade and it doesn’t really sound that interesting. Just another contemporary read that I will probably never pick up.

The Judgement: GO

Wow I have deleted 4/5 books from my tbr this week, what a good week! Send me your links if you’ve done this (or link me to your post!). Did you read any of these books, did I make the right decisions?

Down The TBR Hole #4

The Books:

This one stays! It’s the companion novel to The Wolves of Mercy falls, and that is one of my favourite series of all time.

The Judgement: KEEP

13260749Bird by Crystal Chan

Really this synopsis doesn’t tell me anything. It’s about a girl whose brother died and some mysterious person she meets. I don’t know what to make of this. The cover is really pretty though!

The Judgement: GO

Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins

I don’t have to read the synopsis to know that I will read this book one day! I loved Anna and the French Kiss and Lola and the Boy Next Door, so I will probably pick this book up one day.

The Judgement: KEEP

I Am The Messenger by Markus Zusak

I really don’t know about this one. I loved The Book Thief but the synopsis of this book doesn’t really interest me. However, Markus Zusak’s writing is really good so maybe it is worth keeping. It seems like a book that would stay on my TBR forever.

The Judgement: GO
