If you are in love with books, like I am, this can cause some awkward and funny situations. So I’ve compiled a list of a few situations (slightly dramatised, I must admit) that you might relate to as a book worm.
I was actually going to write a discussion today but I kind of forgot, so forgive me and enjoy this very different post! I did a similar one a few months ago which you can find here.
// The “Going to The Movie” Edition //
Other person: “Have you seen it? There’s a movie coming out, [name of movie]”
Me: “Isn’t that based on a book? I think I read it / heard of it.”
Other person: “Oh. I don’t know, I don’t read books.”
Me: *stares at other person in shock*
Other person: “Hey, do you want to go see [name of movie]?
Me: “Uhm, sorry, I can’t.”
Other person: “Oh some other time then?”
Me: “Uhhm actually… I haven’t read the book on which it is based yet so I can’t go.”
Me: “I can’t wait to watch [name of movie], it’s based off on one of my favourite books!”
Also me (three months after movie came out): *hasn’t watched the movie because of fear that it doesn’t hold up to expectations*
(I still haven’t watched Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children… and I love the book but argh expectations.)
Me: *watches movie with other person*
Me: You know in the book the character actually does [continues to complain and discuss differences]
Other person: *tries to hint that they want to continue watching without interruptions*
Me: *continues talking*
Other person: *slightly annoyed* I’m trying to watch a movie here
Me: Oh *suddenly quiet and tries not to say anything during the entire movie and fails miserably*
Do you relate?
